The story behind the experience

More than a pastry

From nanna’s hands to yours

For Michela, pastizzi carry more than a filling. They hold the family recipe she learned from her nanna and a part of Maltese life she wants to share with her daughter, Hazel, and with the people who visit.

Her background in English language teaching and a BA in Tourism & Culture meet here: in a welcoming workshop where food, stories and local tradition come together.

The best way to understand that tradition is to try it for yourself. Michela invites you into the process, from working the dough to enjoying the pastizzi you’ve made.

Make pastizzi with Michela

An apron, a little flour, and the good part.

This is a hands-on introduction to a Maltese favourite. Michela shows you the traditional hand techniques, then you make and shape your own pastizzi.

01

A little friendly rivalry

Team pea or team ricotta?

Bring your friends, family or colleagues and make a little room for friendly competition. In a private workshop, split into teams, try your hand at shaping pastizzi and enjoy what you make together. Pea or ricotta? There’s plenty to talk about around the table.

An atelier with another story

Since April 2026, Michela has welcomed guests to her atelier in the heart of Birkirkara. Before it became a place to make pastry, this space was a traditional haberdashery.

Fabric was once measured, cut and shaped here. Now the work is flour-dusted: pastry stretched, folded and filled. It’s a fitting home for sharing another Maltese craft.
